A Little About Mike Mahony and the Strength Tips Podcast
Athletes spend a lot of time practicing their chosen sport. They spend time executing drills and learning plays to make themselves superior to other athletes in their sport. One place they need to be in order to get and maintain an edge is in the gym. Strength Tips is aimed at giving clear and concise tips on improving the time spent in the gym. By honing their gym time and improving their strength, hockey players and other athletes prepare themselves to dominate their opponents. While there is a lot of information about strength training available today on the internet, Mike Mahony says “I want to help people wade through the sea of misinformation and lead them directly to the reputable few.”
Mike Mahony has a passion for helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. For the past 10 years Mike has worked with athletes, bodybuilders, unhealthy men and women and helped them build a better physique and a healthier lifestyle. He recognized early on that the internet, while full of great advice, is also full of horrible misinformation. Mike began compiling a list of what he terms The Reputable Few–trainers and professionals who consistently give correct information–and guides people towards them.
Mike was responsible for the off-ice training program for the Long Beach Junior Ice Dogs AAA and the Southern California Ice Hockey AAA programs. In this capacity he designed strength programs for youth hockey players in the range of 13 to 17 years of age. These programs were designed with very specific hockey-centric goals in mind.
Mike has run a very successful bodybuilding website for the past 8 years. He has helped thousands of people reach their health and wellness goals. He is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer and an amateur bodybuilder.
Mike lives in Buena Park, California with his wife, Torya, and his 4 children: Ashley, Matthew, Alyssa and Mitchell. His two oldest are into their careers. His two youngest participate in cross-country and club soccer.
