Here’s the latest goings on with Hockey Talk Radio NEWS…
A new show is debuting right now…
As mentioned last week, I put out an appeal then for a podcast covering the local Tampa Bay Lightening. And it only took a few days to make connections with a great guy, Dan Herrejon, a Chicago native now relocated to Tampa.
I listened to the new “Bolts Report” several times as I was plugging it in to our Hockey Talk Radio programming, and I was loving the format, plus Dan’s way behind the microphone.
As I always do, I suggest you put a face with the name and the show, by visiting his page: A Little About Dan Herrejon and the Bolts Report.
A Hockey Diary post you really should read — about “Why You Have To Podcast”…
Ya, I got psyched by an Internet sports magazine article titled close to that, and just knew I had to pass on the information to all my friends, whether they’re in hockey or not.
“Why You Have To Podcast” actually explores how big time celebrities take advantage of certain media, and how your local gardener, attorney, financial planner and others do, too. Yes, they’re using the media, and you’re quite likely to be left behind — no matter what field you’re in, if you don’t read this article.
A Really AWESOME update…
This is actually a repeat of something I offered last week, but it’s important to remind friends about it once more.
Yes, increased respect from our airtime provider, Radionomy, is bringing us more and more benefits. And this is a result of a lot of great folks — from our all-star group of podcasters to our listeners.
The latest awesome news is our ability to share a Hockey Talk Radio player on the blogs and websites of our friends. In other words, I can share the code with a reputable hockey site, and our station will play right there, at the push of a button.
I’ve done that on both CoachChic.com and my Hockey Diary, just to show how it looks and works, and I’ve more recently helped some of our Hockey Talk Radio show hosts place a player on their websites.
We know blog visitors will enjoy quick access to Hockey Talk Radio, but I want to do more than that. So I plan on promoting participating blogs or sites, here on this site, and to my 16,000+ social media contacts.
The techie side of this is easy-peasy: I give you the code, and you just paste it in to where you want the player to appear. That’s it! And if you have any problems, I’ll be available to help.
More great updates…
There’s no new news on that Canadian Junior hockey league joining us yet, but I’ve been pushing for a number of other leagues to do just that.
In that article on Why You Have To Podcast, I mention what I went through on the job briefly as a Junior team GM and head coach, and how much a radio show presence would have made my recruiting so much easier. We’re talking about multi-pronged benefits, too… I mean, it would have initially been easier to spread the word about our team and league offerings via the airwaves, and then I know our parents and players would have loved to hear recaps of league play throughout the season.
So, if you’re involved in Junior hockey in any way, perhaps you can pass these ideas on to the people who should know about Hockey Talk Radio.
Even more great updates…
Shaun Goodsell’s guest appearance over the past week or so has been extremely popular, and it’s sparked him to join our programming with a regular podcast. Shortly after bringing Shaun into the fold, Susan Salzbrenner agreed to also expand her Fit Across Cultures show to full-time status. Talk about awesome!
Of course, I’m still looking for more shows… I’m going to put on a real push to get a podcast from the Boston-area, covering my favorite old team, the Bruins, and I’d really like more guys or gals who feel they can share worthy advice to young, developing hockey players, their parents and their coaches. If you get a chance, scan my page about creating your own show if you’d like a little more info.
What I’d really like to add is someone capable of interviewing celebrities for Hockey Talk Radio. I’ve been in the game for over 40-years, so I have lots of contacts — including some very interesting hockey personalities — to keep an interviewer busy for a very long time.
Just so interested parties know, the best production schedule is to do one podcast episode per week, and to submit that to me late in the week for weekend programming.
Don’t forget to check on the latest Hockey Talk Radio “Show of the Week”…
Each week a new podcast is featured as the Hockey Talk Radio “Show of the Week“. Not only does that give listeners a chance to discover a little about one of our better podcasts, but a sample show is always included at the bottom of that page.
